4th Of July Fireworks, Events Lead To Additional Metro Trains
Metro will be running additional trains on July 4 for the fireworks display on the National Mall and for residents attending other events.

WASHINGTON, DC — Metro will be running additional trains on July 4 for residents planning to attend the fireworks display on the National Mall and celebrate other festivities in the region.
On Sunday, July 4, Metrorail service will operate from 8 a.m. until 11 p.m. During the day, trains will run on a regular weekend schedule — every 12 minutes on the Red Line and every 15 minutes on all other lines — until 4 p.m., at which time service will ramp up to rush-hour service levels before and after the fireworks.
Metro trains will run every 6 minutes on the Red Line, every 8 minutes on the Orange Line and every 12 minutes on all other lines from 4 p.m. until closing.

One of the early events in D.C. on July 4 is the Washington Nationals game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The game at Nationals Park will start at its traditional July 4 time of 11:05 a.m. Metro trains will be running on a weekend schedule, including at the Navy Yard-Ballpark station, when the game begins.
The public will be permitted to attend the fireworks display on the National Mall. The 17-minute display will be held on July 4, starting at 9:09 p.m. and will be launched from both sides of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.

While the pandemic is not over, the D.C. government lifted all capacity and other restrictions on June 11. The National Park Service said that consistent with Centers for Diesease Control guidelines, people who are not fully vaccinated must wear masks indoors and in crowded outdoor spaces on the National Mall.
After 9 p.m., the National Mall entrance at the Smithsonian Station will become “entry only” to accommodate crowds going home after the fireworks display on the National Mall. The Arlington Cemetery Station will close at 10 p.m. on July 4.
Off-peak fares will be in effect all day, and parking will be free at all Metro-operated facilities. Bicycles and large coolers will not be permitted aboard trains after 2 p.m. due to space constraints.

On Monday, July 5, Metrorail will open at 8 a.m. and close at 11 p.m. Trains and buses will operate on a Sunday schedule.
Under federal law, masks are still required when riding Metro trains and buses and at all indoor stations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
