Metro Service To Close Early Due To Curfew

WASHINGTON, DC — Due to the ongoing unrest taking place at the U.S. Capitol, Mayor Muriel Bowser ordered a citywide curfew from 6 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday. No person other than those designated by the mayor can walk, bike, run loiter, stand, or travel by car or other mode of transportation on any District street, alley, park, or other public place.

The curfew does not apply to essential workers, including working media with outlet-issued credentials, when they are engaged in essential functions or traveling to and from their essential work.

Due to curfew, WMATA announced it was ending bus and rail service earlier than normal on Wednesday. Metrorail service will close at 8 p.m., and Metrobus service will end at 9 p.m. MetroAccess will not begin new trips after 9 p.m.

The last trains will depart downtown transfer stations at 8 p.m. Service into the District will end earlier.

Buses scheduled to start service at 9 p.m. or after will not operate. Buses that are already in service last that time will continue to the end of the line before going out of service.
