Over 500 Power Outages Reported In DC Tuesday

BREAKING: Over 500 customers are without power as a heat advisory is in effect in DC.

WASHINGTON, DC — Hundreds of DC households and businesses are without power Tuesday as scorching temperatures continue to linger.

According to Pepco's outage map, the outages are mainly around Logan Circle. About 531 customers are affected in the area, the map shows.

Other outages were reported near Mt. Vernon Square and Chevy Chase.

In Alexandria, Va., over 6,000 residents are without power.

The outages occurred as DC is under a heat advisory from the National Weather Service. High temperatures will be around 97 with a heat index as high as 109, in part due to high humidity.

It is the third consecutive day the area is under a heat advisory.

Residents are asked to check on elderly friends, relatives and neighbors who may be isolated, to ensure they are not showing signs of heat-related illnesses.
