5-Foot Alligator Rescued From DC Home: Police
Police remind residents that alligators are not legal to have as house pets.

(Updated at 1:30 p.m. Thursday): WASHINGTON, DC — Authorities rescued a 5-foot alligator from a DC resident's home Wednesday night.
A humane rescue alliance official told Patch they received a tip from someone about an "alligator-like" animal inside of a residence.
DC police officers and humane rescue alliance officials executed a search warrant and located the Caiman inside the home, which is illegal in the District.

Police did not specify where they found the alligator.
Animal Control is working to relocate the alligator to a safe habitat.

Authorities are investigating this matter further.
"Also, remember that alligators should not be considered house pets," DC police tweeted.
