Pope started his career in 2003 playing with Paul Hammer and Zach Berkman, with the three of them going on to form the band District. Touring around the U.S. the band released four albums before Pope was ready to try it solo. The 2008 release of his debut album, “Daylight,” gained him recognition as a serious solo artist.
The release of his 2017 album, “Work,” was compared to both Springsteen and Tom Petty. His songs are personal and upfront, with his new releases focusing on life lessons and his experiences as a new father. In a July 2019 interview Ron Pope tells Broadway World the process behind writing his new songs is one of honesty – “Writing these songs reminded me of where I've been and how hard it was to claw my way out of that pit of my own creation.”
