Rush-Hour Crash Closes Rock Creek Parkway

Three people were critically injured in Thursday morning's collision on the Rock Creek Parkway near P Street, says D.C. fire department.

WASHINGTON, DC — Four people were injured Thursday morning in a vehicle collision that closed down Rock Creek Parkway for several hours during rush hour, according to D.C. Fire & EMS. The two-vehicle accident occurred at about 6:30 a.m. on the parkway just south of P Street in Northwest.

Fire and rescue personnel exticated three people who were trapped in the wrecked vehicles, the D.C. fire department said. They were taken to a local hospital with critical injuries.

A fourth individual was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The U.S. Park Police, which patrols the Rock Creek Parkway, closed off access to the commuter artery between Virginia Avenue and Beach Drive NW following the accident, according to the District's Metropolitan Police. All lanes reopened at 9:10 a.m.
