Scattered Thunderstorms Expected Across DC Region
More rain and thunderstorms are expected to pass through the Washington, D.C. area, possibly bringing damaging winds and large hail.
WASHINGTON, DC — National Weather Service is predicting another day of showers and scattered thunderstorms on Wednesday for the D.C.-metro region, according to a post on the NWS' Twitter account.
Some of the storms may bring damaging winds and large hail, according to NWS. The most severe weather is expected to occur between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Over the last week, relentless high winds and storms have led to three fatalities, flooding, and power outages from Texas to Maryland, according to the Associated Press. As of 9:30 a.m., on Wednesday, more than 20,000 people are still without power in Virginia, according to poweroutage.us.

A tornado that struck Virginia’s Northumberland County near the Chesapeake Bay destroyed one home and severely damaged a few others Monday. But no one was injured, according to weather service officials.
