Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For DC, NoVA Region
National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning Thursday for D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.

WASHINGTON, DC — A severe thunderstorm warning was issued on Thursday for most of the Washington, D.C. metro region, according to the latest from the National Weather Service.
NWS expects several rounds of thunderstorms to pass through the region from Thursday afternoon through early Friday morning.
Some areas may see up to 1-2 inches of rainfall per hour, with the possibility of total rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches, according to NWS. Some localities may even experience higher amounts of rain up to 4 inches.

Areas affected by the severe thunderstorm watch include:
- Washington, DC
- Maryland: Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Caroline, Carroll, Cecil, Charles, Dorchester, Frederick (MD), Harford, Howard, Kent, Montgomery, Prince Georges, Queen Anne's, Somerset, St. Marys, Talbot, Wicomico, and Worchester.
- Virginia: Accomack, Albemarle, Alexandria, Amelia, Amherst, Appomattox, Arlington, Bedford, Buckingham, Campbell, Caroline, Charles City, Charlotte, Charlottesville, Chesterfield, Colonial Heights, Culpeper, Cumberland, Dinwiddie, Essex, Fairfax, Fairfax City, Falls Church, Fauquier, Fluvanna, Fredericksburg, Gloucester, Goochland, Greene, Hampton, Hanover, Henrico, Hopewell, James City, King and Queen, King George, King William, Lancaster, Loudoun, Louisa, Lynchburg, Madison, Manassas, Manassas Park, Mathews, Middlesex, Nelson, New Kent, Newport News, Northampton, Northumberland, Nottoway, Orange, Petersburg, Poquoson, Powhatan, Prince Edward, Prince George, Prince William, Rappahannock, Richmond, Spotsylvania, Stafford, Surry, Westmoreland, and Williamsburg.
On Wednesday, NWS issued a flash flood watch for most of the District, Maryland, and Virginia. Heavy rain falling over a short periods may cause streams and creaks to quickly rise over their banks, leading to potential flash flooding in urban areas.

Parts of the following localities are affected by the flash flood watch, which runs from 2 p.m., Thursday until 8 a.m., on Friday:

- Maryland: Anne Arundel, Calvert, Carroll, Cecil, Central and Southeast Howard, Central and Southeast Montgomery, Charles, Frederick (MD) Northern Baltimore, Northwest Harford, Northwest Howard, Northwest Montgomery, Prince Georges, Southeast Harford, Southern Baltimore and St. Marys.
- Virginia: Albemarle, Arlington, Falls Church, Alexandria, Culpeper, Eastern Loudoun, Fairfax, Greene, King George, Madison, Northern Fauquier, Orange, Prince William, Manassas, Manassas Park, Rappahannock, Southern Fauquier, Spotsylvania, Stafford and Western Loudoun.
