Dozens Sickened At Florida Summer Camp
At least 33 children and three adults became sick at a Florida summer camp though it is unclear what caused the illnesses.

LAKE PLACID, FL — At least three dozen people, 33 children and three adults, were taken to the hospital after becoming ill at a Florida summer camp on Thursday, officials said.
It's unclear what caused the illnesses but Highland County EMS officials said none appeared to be serious.
The children and adults were taken to various area hospitals from the summer camp in Lake Placid. The investigation has been turned over to the health department.

Highlands County Public Safety Director Marc Bashoor told The Washington Post that the ill people became nauseated and started vomiting. Bashoor told the paper that some people also experienced headaches and fevers.
Bashoor told the Post it could have been food-related or caused by norovirus or an amoeba in the water.

The children attending the camp came from various parts of Florida, including Sarasota, Palm Beach Broward and Miami Dade Counties.
The camp's website describes it as "a traditional camp with modern conveniences."
