Suspicious Backpack Causes Closure, Evacuation: Tallahassee PD
BREAKING NEWS: Authorities are investigating a backpack, leading to business evacuations and a road closure near FSU.

TALLAHASSEE, FL – Authorities said a suspicious item has prompted road closures and voluntary business evacuations Saturday afternoon in an area around the Florida State University campus. The object of the investigation is a backpack.
The Tallahassee Police Department was investigating a suspicious backpack in the 400 block of Tennessee Street, officials reported after 3 p.m.
Tennessee Street was closed between Macomb Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard for the investigation. Both vehicles and pedestrians have been prohibited from accessing the area until it is deemed safe.

"There is no threat to the FSU campus," Florida State University Public Safety officials advised. "Please stay clear of the area until further notice."
The Tallahassee Police Department’s Hazardous Devices Team and the Big Bend Regional Bomb Squad are processing the scene and interviewing witnesses.

Officials said they requested a voluntary evacuation of area businesses.
