These 5 Florida Companies Are Nation's Best To Work For: Fortune

WESTON, FL — Hilton is America's best company to work for in 2019, according to Fortune's annual list released on Thursday.

The Virginia-based company jumped to the No. 1 spot in 2019 after placing No.33 on the list in 2018. Fortune writes that the company's ascent is thanks to several employee-focused changes, including more comfortable work wear and upgrading spaces used by employees.

Five Florida businesses placed on Fortune's 100 best companies to work for list.

The Florida companies on the list are:

• No. 8 Ultimate Software
• No. 12 Publix Super Markets
• No. 17 JM Family Enterprises
• No. 37 BayCare Health System
• No. 40 Baptist Health South Florida

Fortune says of Ultimate Software: "In comments, employees uniformly refer to “relaxed, unassuming, and warm” CEO Scott Scherr as “Scott” and emphasize a company culture in which top executives are visible and accessible, with “no executive floor or special key in the elevator.” Two great perks: Employees get $300 per year toward kids’ extracurricular activities, and veterans get an annual cash bonus."

To be considered for the list, a company has to have at least 1000 employees, according to Fortune. The list is compiled by the analytics firm Great Place to Work, which conducts a workforce survey where employees respond to over 60 questions. According to Fortune, the survey responses account for 85 percent of the analysis. The rest of the analysis is based on factors like people's ability to contribute new ideas and effectiveness of leaders, Fortune explains. (You can read the full methodology here.)
