Toddler Left In Hot Car For Hours In South Florida Dies: Cops
Police responded to the scene at around 5:05 p.m. and said the baby had been in the car for "an extended number of hours."

PEMBROKE PINES, FL — A toddler has died after being left in a hot car for "an extended number of hours" in South Florida, Pembroke Pines Police said.
Pembroke Pines officials responded to a report for medical assistance around 5:05 p.m. Friday and a preliminary investigation found that the 17-month-old baby boy had been left in the parked car in the 2200 block of North University Drive.
CPR and other life-saving efforts by fire officials were unsuccessful and the child was pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing.
"Members of our community are reminded that leaving a child inside a car is a year-long hazard, but it is especially deadly during the summer months when temperatures can climb above 100 degrees within minutes," police said in a statement. "Always double check your vehicle after you park for loved ones or pets."

WPLG reported that one of the boy's parents left him in the car and went to work. According to WPLG, the engine was off and the windows were up.
"Our prayers go out to the deceased and their family during this difficult time," police said.
