'70s Heartthrob David Cassidy Mourned By Generation Of Americans
Cassidy was known to a generation of American teenagers as heartthrob Keith Partridge of the '70s sitcom, 'The Partridge Family.'

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — Known to a generation of American teenagers as heartthrob Keith Partridge of the '70s sitcom, "The Partridge Family," David Cassidy lost his battle for life on Tuesday just days after he was admitted to a Fort Lauderdale hospital suffering from organ failure. News of his death was posted on his website and sent to news organizations in a statement from his representative. He was 67.
"It is with great sadness that I post this message," the statement on his website read. "David Cassidy has meant so much to so many people. David was an iconic teen idol in the '70s and he maintained a career spanning movies, theater, music, writing, directing. His multi-generational connection to so many people from all walks of life, from all around the world will be felt today."
The statement was signed Jane, who Cassidy described as a longtime friend who has helped him for years with his Facebook page and website.

"Despite being a star, he was kindhearted, thoughtful and considerate of others," the statement continued. "He will be greatly missed.
TMZ first reported that Cassidy had been hospitalized and sources told the publication Cassidy had been rushed to the hospital. Cassidy was initially placed in an induced coma but was said to be conscious and surrounded by family in recent days.

In February, Cassidy announced that he was suffering from dementia.
