Aventura Boil Water Order Lifted

Aventura residents can once again splish, splash, gargle and slurp without worry.

AVENTURA, FL — Aventura residents can once again splish, splash, gargle and slurp without worry. The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department on Wednesday announced it was lifting a precautionary boil water notice. The order, which had been put in place Monday, affected residents who live within the boundaries of Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 39th Place and Northeast 187th Street to Northeast 213th Street.

"You no longer need to boil the water prior to use," Miami-Dade officials said Wednesday. "The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department Lab Division sampled the water and results came back clear and met all drinking water requirements."

The preventive boil water order was imposed after a "preventive pipe inspection" caused a drop in pressure.

County officials told residents in affected areas to bring their water to a rolling boil for a full minute before drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, making ice or washing dishes though showering was not affected.

One Aventura resident told Patch that some of his neighbors were confused because their building had been undergoing some work, which caused the building's water to be shut off for a time. They thought the boil water notice was somehow related to the work at their building. It was not.
