Aventura Resident Named to Broward Performing Arts Board

Aventura resident Richard A. Berkowitz has been appointed to the board of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.

AVENTURA, FL — Aventura resident Richard A. Berkowitz has been named to the board of the Broward Performing Arts Foundation. Berkowitz is the founding chairman of Berkowitz Pollack Brant Advisors and Accountants. He is also chairman of the board of Provenance Wealth Advisors.

"For more than 25 years, the Broward Performing Arts Foundation has been instrumental in providing support for the Broward Center for the Performing Arts," officials said in announcing the appointment.

The foundation was established in 1985 to deliver the private funding needed to build the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and create an endowment to sustain its operations.

"Over the years, the foundation has successfully raised funds to support the Broward Center’s innovative and diverse programming, arts-in-education initiatives, community engagement activities and capital projects," officials added. "Most recently, the foundation raised $60 million to complete the Encore! capital campaign to renovate, renew and revitalize the Broward Center."

This fall, the Broward Performing Arts Foundation is launching a $25 million capital campaign to restore Parker Playhouse.

Berkowitz also serves on the executive committee of the Broward Workshop, which he also chairs. He is treasurer of the board of trustees of The Miami Foundation and a member of the University of Miami Citizens Board, among others.

Berkowitz joins new board members Alice Lucia Jackson, commercial real estate consultant principal of Morris Southeast Group, Inc.; Ramón Rodríguez, retired chairman of Republic Services, Inc.; Ken Stiles, CEO of Stiles Corporation; and Jake Wurzak, founder and managing member of DoveHill Capital Management, LLC.

The Broward Center for the Performing Arts presents more than 700 performances each year to more than 700,000 patrons, showcasing a wide range of exciting cultural programming and events. Guest experiences at the Broward Center include the JetBlue Flight Deck on the Club Level, special events in the Huizenga Pavilion, waterfront dining at Marti’s New River Bistro as well as classes and workshops for all ages at the Rose Miniaci Arts Education Center.

With one of the largest arts-in-education programs in the United States, the Broward Center also welcomes more than 150,000 students annually.
