Dr Alan Mendelsohn talking Shingrix and Shingles

Dr Alan Mendelsohn of Eye Surgeons & Consultants appeared on the local WPLG news to talk about Shingrix, a new vaccine to counter shingles.

Shingles is a strain of the same virus as chicken pox. Just as chicken pox can be extremely serious if an elderly person has it, so too shingles.

The eye will be inflamed and if the shingles is allowed to develop further, one could suffer serious discomfort if not lose the use of the eye.

Shingles is something that is not well known and this is why Dr Alan Mendelsohn wants to increase awareness not just of it, but of the potential remedies.
