Fatal Hit-And-Run Driver Sought In NW Miami-Dade

Carlos Gilberto Garcia Chacon was pronounced dead on the scene in the 300 block of NW 109 Avenue after being struck by a hit-and-run driver.

MIAMI, FL — Miami-Dade police are asking for the public's help in finding the hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a 35-year-old man. Carlos Gilberto Garcia Chacon was pronounced dead on the scene in the 300 block of NW 109 Avenue. The incident occurred shortly before 5:30 a.m. on Sept. 30.

"An unknown vehicle struck a 35-year old male pedestrian in the southbound lane of NW 109 Avenue at the 300 block," explained Detective Lee Cowart of the Miami-Dade Police Department. "The vehicle did not stop and fled south on NW 109 Avenue."

Garcia Chacon was pronounced dead by emergency responders from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded at the scene.

"Investigators are seeking the assistance from the community in identifying the hit and run driver and/or locating the vehicle," Cowart said.

Police do not have any photographs or surveillance video of the incident.
