Gwen Graham Announces Run for Governor

MIAMI GARDENS, FL — Former Florida Congresswoman Gwen Graham announced Tuesday that she is running for governor. Graham is the daughter of former Gov. Bob Graham. She is the third Florida Democrat to throw her hat in the ring.

Graham served one term in congress from 2015 to 2017. Her district included the eastern part of the Florida Panhandle along with much of the Big Bend region along the Emerald Coast

Her father served two terms as Florida governor from 1979 to 1987 and represented Florida as a U.S. Senator from 1987 to 2005.

"Neglecting Florida’s treasures affects our health, our environment and our economy," Gwen Graham said in making her announcement.

Her father acknowledged the task ahead for his daughter in a television news interview. "There’s a lot more of Florida that needs to get to know Gwen,” he said.

Gwen Graham, who was born in Miami Lakes, is the third Democrat to announce her gubernatorial campaign along with Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum and Orlando businessman Chris King. Florida.

Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam is running as a Republican to replace Gov. Rick Scott, who is barred from seeking a third term in Florida's top job.
