Jimmy Buffett To Play Free Concert Supporting Dem. Candidate

The music legend is playing a free "Get Out the Vote" concert in support of Florida Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gwen Graham.

HOLLYWOOD, FL — Jimmy Buffett is set to play at a free Get Out the Vote concert in support of Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gwen Graham, at the Hollywood ArtsPark Amphitheater, according to the candidate's campaign. The concert, free and open to the public, will kick off at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, but doors open at 6 p.m.

Buffett has not hidden his support for Graham. She will "put the interests of everyday Floridians first," he said in a statement on Graham's campaign website.

"She has a heart for people and a passion for the Sunshine state. She’ll protect our precious natural environment, ensure we have strong public schools and affordable health care. It’s been too long since we have had a Governor for all the people. For that reason, I am supporting my friend, Democrat Gwen Graham, for governor and I encourage ya’ll to do the same” the music legend said, according to Graham's website.

Gwen Graham's father, Bob Graham, also served as Florida's governor from 1979 to 1987 WFLA reports.

Graham's successful 2014 bid for Congress also enjoyed support from Jimmy Buffett, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Florida's elections take place on Aug. 28.
