Man Barricaded In Car Surrenders To Miami-Dade Police
A man barricaded himself in his car on Monday morning and threatened to take his life, according to Miami-Dade police.

MIAMI GARDENS, FL — A man barricaded himself in his car on Monday morning and threatened to take his life, according to Miami-Dade police. The incident happened during the morning rush hour at NW 62 Street and NW 27 Avenue.
"It was a male that was attempting suicide," explained Detective Chris Thomas of the Miami-Dade Police Department. "He ended up driving himself over to the location over in the Northside District where he barricaded himself in his car."

Thomas told Patch that the incident shut down the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza station for a time and caused traffic to be rerouted from NW 62 to 67 Streets and NW 25 to 27 Avenues.
The man was armed with a handgun. He surrendered to police after a negotiator was brought in from the Miami-Dade Police Department.
