Bromfield told police that he followed the driver and got the license tag from the vehicle. He then called 9-1-1.
Police found a bullet hole in the rear driver's side window of Bromfield's vehicle. They found a Ruger .380 handgun in Gray's right front pocket.
Bromfield subsequently identified Gray as the person who shot at him. But Gray denied firing the weapon at Gray.
