Man Killed By Tri-Rail Train
A pedestrian was killed Tuesday after being struck by a Tri-Rail train in Pompano Beach.

POMPANO, FL — A pedestrian was killed Tuesday after being struck by a Tri-Rail train, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office. The incident happened around 10:30 a.m near 1200 Martin Luther King Blvd. Police were not immediately able to identify the victim.
"This morning, a man apparently walked around a train safety gate that had its bells and lights activated and into the train’s path," the Broward Sheriff's Office said Tuesday night.
The operator of the train apparently was unaware of the incident and continued on into Palm Beach County, according to police.

"The passenger train was headed north when witnesses say the man ignored the safety measures, walked on the tracks and was struck by the passenger train," police said.
The engineer was later notified of the crash. Police said he cooperated with the BSO's Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit.
