Rapper Rick Ross Hospitalized In Miami Area: Reports

Ross' friend and fellow artist Fat Trel tweeted late Friday that he spoke with the rapper and he was not on life support.

DAVIE, FL — Rapper Rick Ross was hospitalized in the Miami area early Thursday morning after suffering what appeared to be a possible heart attack at his Broward County Home, according to celebrity websites TMZ and People. Ross lost 75 pounds after previous health scares in recent years. TMZ reported that Ross was placed on an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation machine (ECMO), but Ross' friend and fellow artist Fat Trel tweeted late Friday that he spoke with the rapper and he was not on life support.

Citing a Davie, Florida police report, People said that first responders received a 9-1-1 call from Ross' mansion at 3:34 a.m. The caller reported that someone fitting Ross' description was “unresponsive,” “breathing heavy” and “slobbing out the mouth," according to the publication.

TMZ reported that the singer's family denied he is on ECMO but had earlier denied that he was even hospitalized.

Ross, who has received four Grammy Award nominations, has enjoyed success with rap and R&B hits like "The Boss" featuring T-Pain; "Here I Am" featuring Nelly and Avery Storm as well as "Aston Martin Music" featuring Drake and Chrisette Michele, according to IMDB.

In 2013, Ross survived a drive-by shooting in Fort Lauderdale. He later told fans that it was important to remember the rappers who have died too early. He pointed to Shakur, The Notorious B.I.G. and Pimp C.
