Whenever I hear about a individual or business giving to a worthy cause, or helping someone else simply because they can, I'm thrilled. Most of the news these days is filled with stories of struggle, strife, violence, and chaos. Watching, reading, or listening to your local news would lead one to believe humanity already has one foot in the grave and the other kicking in the gates of hell, with heels lifted off the floor and toes stretched back.
Since I was due for a bit of "good" or "positive" news for a change, I decided to create a list of good deeds and/or acts of kindness and post them here.
- Fox2Now reports: Ayel Morgenstern, a six year old Boca Raton native, heard about the vandalism at Chesed Shel-Emeth Cemetery in University City, St. Louis and came up with an idea to help the community heal. She hand painted more than 150 rocks, to be delivered to the affected gravestones. Her acts of kindness inspired local students.
- NWF Daily News reports: A Crestview welder helps a stranger up the steps of his own home after a partial leg amputation. The man and his wife, Jennifer, were exhausted and ready to give up when the welder pulled up in his pickup and asked if the couple needed help, and then proceeded to pick the man up and put him on his couch.
- Sun-Sentinel reports: Hofstatters and Barbara Mautner dedicate a state-of-the-art children's play structure and athletic field to the Torah Academy (Orthodox Jewish day school) of Boca Raton.
Its stories like these that give me a newfound faith in humanity and a glimmer of hope. Now just imagine if these were the only type of stories there were to report....
