Carter and Hunt Investment Management Luxury High Rise in Downtown Sarasota Named The DeSota

Development across from Whole Foods includes 180 luxury residential units

Carter, one of the nation’s leading real estate investment, development and advisory firms, and Hunt Investment Management today announced its residential and retail development in Sarasota will be named The DeSota.

The DeSota, located at the corner of 2nd Street and Central Avenue in the heart of downtown Sarasota, is directly across the street from Whole Foods. It is uniquely positioned within walking distance of the cultural arts district, central business district, more than 20 restaurants, numerous retail shops and the Sarasota Marina.

The 10-story development includes one, two, three and four bedroom apartments and 15,000 square feet of retail. Amenities will include condominium-grade finishes, such as quartz countertops and stainless steel appliances. A few select apartments will also include wine cooler units.

Other unit features include open floorplans, large windows, 10-foot ceilings and balconies. Community amenities include a 24-hour fitness center, resort-style swimming pool, clubroom and outdoor deck. The first three stories of the development will include secured parking for residents. Two hotel-style suites for tenant’s guests will also be available.

“The DeSota has been extremely well received by the community since we announced construction last year,” said Jerome Hagley, executive vice president of Carter. “Despite a tremendous amount of growth in downtown Sarasota over the last few years, there is very limited purpose-built luxury rental multi-family housing available. This iconic development will provide unprecedented amenities that will fill that void.”

The building’s name, The DeSota, was selected to pay tribute to the rich history of Sarasota. The DeSota is Carter’s second project to break ground in Florida this year. The firm broke ground in February on NINE15 in downtown Tampa, a 23-story tower that includes 362 apartment units and 8,000 square feet of street-level retail.

The project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2017. For more information or leasing details about The DeSota, visit www.thedesota.com.
