Garbage Truck Erupts Into Flames On U.S. 301: Troopers

RIVERVIEW, FL — A garbage truck caught fire in Riverview on U.S. Highway 301 northbound near Bloomingdale Avenue Monday afternoon, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said that a tank of natural compressed gas on the Waste Management truck caused the fire that started just before 4:30 p.m. All northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 301 were shut down as fire crews responded to the fire. The driver of the truck made it out safely, troopers said.
