Hurricane Irma Disaster Recovery Center Closing

Hillsborough County residents can still get assistance with Hurricane Irma recovery efforts can still contact hotlines and go online.

RIVERVIEW, FL – Hillsborough County residents who still need in-person assistance with their Hurricane Irma related issues have until Saturday, Nov. 18 to do so.

The Hillsborough County Hurricane Irma Disaster Recovery Center will close after its regular hours (9 a.m. to 7 p.m.) on Nov. 18. The center is located at The Regent, 6437 Watson Road in Riverview. Other Hurricane Irma assistance deadlines are:

  • Friday, Nov. 24: Register for Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Individuals and Households Program
  • Friday, Nov. 24: Small Business Association low-interest disaster loans
  • Saturday, Dec. 2: FEMA’s Transitional Sheltering Assistance period ends

The Disaster Recovery center, a partnership between FEMA and Hillsborough County, offers residents and business owners impacted by Hurricane Irma a central place where they can find information about local, state and federal programs and services available to them. Hurricane Maria survivors who have come to Hillsborough County are also welcome to visit the center.

Hillsborough County residents who still need help after Nov. 18 can visit another Disaster Recovery Center. To find a nearby Disaster Recovery Center, residents can call the FEMA Helpline at (800) 621-3362 or TTY (800) 462-7585 from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week. A center locator is available online at www.fema.gov/disaster-recovery-centers.

Disaster assistance is determined on a case-by-case basis. Types of assistance include grants to help renters and homeowners pay for temporary housing, essential home repairs, human services, personal property replacement and other disaster-related needs.

SBA disaster loans are available to businesses, most private nonprofit organizations, homeowners and renters to cover uninsured losses from the disaster. Economic injury disaster loans are available to provide working capital to small businesses and most private nonprofit organizations.
