Virtually Re-Imagined Taste Of GRCC Earns Social Media Raves

BLOOMINGDALE-RIVERVIEW —The Riverview and Brandon communities came together virtually this year for the annual Taste of Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce event that is normally held in-person to provide more exposure to businesses that are chamber members.

It was the "re-imagined" Taste of GRCC because of the coronavirus pandemic causing the virtual shift, a news release said.

From June 23 to July 21, participants were asked to take a photo of their food bought at a GRCC member restaurant, and post it on the Taste GRCC Facebook page or leave a positive Google review about the company.

During the event, GRCC said they had over 700 people join the Taste of GRCC Facebook group and there were more than 400 posts that supported the food and beverage establishments. There were more than 1,300 Google Reviews accumulated from all the establishments on the Taste of GRCC list.

Michelle Mosher Rebhahn checked into Fuzzy's Taco Shop in Riverview on July 20, and posted on Facebook that she almost ate the entire fajita salad before she remembered to take a photo of it for the Taste of GRCC Facebook group. There were other supporters who posted similar posts as Rebhahn's because they were so excited to have some of their favorite food.

Seventy-one food and beverage establishments were shown support in this re-imagined event.

Support for the event happened with 14 sponsors and 16 prize donors. Some sponsors included Art Monkey, The Forge Irish Pub, Your PIE Brandon and Longhorn Steakhouse Riverview.
