Florida Man Kills Self In Home; Accidentally Kills Roommate, Dog

Two men and a dog were found dead inside a Tamarac home. One of the men was found dead inside a running car. Another was found upstairs.

TAMARAC, FL — Two people and a dog were found dead inside a Tamarac home and heavy fumes were reportedly emanating from the residence. Deputies with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office arrived Wednesday morning at the home on the 7900 block of Exeter Circle West. First responders were met with a strong smell of gas, officials told media outlets.

A man in his 60s was found dead inside a running car, media outlets reported. A man in his 70s was found dead upstairs along with a dog.

“The fumes were very strong,” said deputy Gina Carter told WSVN-TV. “It’s possible that the car had been left running overnight. This appears to have been a suicide and accidental death. There was a note inside for the suicide. The homes that were adjacent to this one — it’s a town home development — the other units also had a lot of fumes in them, and firefighters had to evacuate those units.”

The names of the victims weren't immediately released.

"First responders are trying to clear the fumes out so detectives can get in and determine what caused this," Carter told the Miami Herald.

Carter told CBSMiami other homes were very close to the deadly fumes and the situation could've been worse.

“The adjacent units had to be evacuated because the fumes were so strong but no one else was hurt,” Carter said.
