Herzl's Gambit: Virtual Chess Night for Israel
Virtual Chess Competition Proves No Forfeit in Sight for Nonprofit During COVID-19 Pandemic

Pivoting its fundraising efforts from an in-person, regional model to a digital, national strategy, Jewish National Fund-USA (JNF-USA) has added a virtual chess competition to its exciting list of unique digital OnDemand content adorning computer screens around the country in 2021.
After the recent buzz regarding Netflix's popular miniseries The Queen's Gambit and realizing that chess is one of the few sports that can truly be played unaffected by the pandemic because it can be played 100% virtually, JNF-USA will be hosting a live virtual chess match featuring Evan Rabin, USA National Master & CEO of Premier Chess vs. Israeli Grandmaster Leonid Yudasin. Rabin will also be interviewing the chess champion while he simultaneously plays 19 community members from the audience, in what is guaranteed to be a nail-biting socially distanced experience you won’t want to miss.
“It’s important for us as an organization to be able to adjust our fundraising strategies and come up with engaging, fun, and creative virtual events if we want to continue to carry out our vision to ensure a strong, secure, and prosperous future for the land and people of Israel,” said Maia Aron, President of JNF-USA in Miami. “Hosting an interactive, live event like this virtual chess night for Israel not only shows we’re capable of adapting during a global pandemic, but it also allows us to broaden our reach and attract new audiences we never even intended.”
