Sharing Boca's Beaches During Sea Turtle Nesting Season
Designated beaches in Boca Raton are blocked off in an effort to protect sea turtles during nesting season.
From the City of Boca Raton: With sea turtle nesting season well underway, City of Boca Raton beaches are filled with nests that are blocked off in designated areas. With the busy holiday weekend approaching, Gumbo Limbo Nature Center's Sea Turtle Conservation team put together a video to inform beachgoers about how to share the beach with nesting sea turtles.
Currently, there are 18 leatherback nests, 644 loggerhead nests and 150 green sea turtle nests on city beaches. To learn more information about turtle nesting season, please visit Gumbo Limbo Nature Center.
