Spanish River Boulevard Bridge Painting Underway
The Department of Transportation does not predict any lane closures until the week of August 26.
From the City of Boca Raton: The Spanish River Intracoastal Waterway Bridge Painting Project, overseen by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), began on Monday, August 12, 2019. The scope of work for this project includes sandblasting the existing paint and repainting the steel bridge structure, repairing and rehabilitating the bridge span locks, and replacing the bridge piling jackets.
Work will be done in phases to reduce the effects of construction to the community and estimated completion is in early 2020. While the contractor does not anticipate any lane closures until the week of August 26, daily and nightly single lane closures are permitted Monday through Sunday with the following exceptions:
- Westbound lane closures are not permitted 7am - 9am
- Eastbound lane closures are not permitted 2:30pm - 7pm
The plans also allow for four (4) weekends of full closures at any point during the project duration. The dates for these closures are not confirmed at this time, but the general full closure and detour route information includes:

- Full closures may begin at 5am Saturday ending by 5am the following Monday
- Northbound motorists may detour via Linton Boulevard
- Southbound motorists may detour via Palmetto Park Road
