Water downstream from the spill is being tested by department of health officials.
BRADENTON, FL — More than 1,000 gallons of sewage leaked from a manhole in Bradenton on Monday, according to Florida Department of Environmental Protection data.
According to an incident report, Manatee County officials were alerted to the incident after a manhole beneath the pavement near State Road 64 East and 117th Street East overflowed. The report states corrosion caused the manhole to fail.
Crews put a stop to the leak around 11:35 a.m. and used a vacuum truck to clean up nearby spilled water. Contaminated dirt was also removed and taken to a landfill, according to the report.
