Beach Madness Brackets Now Available
The BACVB invites people to participate in the second annual Bradenton Area Beach Madness tournament on its Facebook page.
BRADENTON, FL -- Mad about the beaches in the Bradenton area? The Bradenton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau is asking people who enjoy fun in the sun to take part in their second annual Bradenton Area Beach Madness tournament.
Starting today, visitors to the BACVB Facebook page can vote for their favorite activities around the area beaches – from stand-up paddle boarding at Robinson Preserve to feeding cows at Dakin Dairy Farm – in a bracket-tournament format. The eight single-elimination tournament rounds will feature the top 16 activities to do in the Bradenton area, according to the bureau.
“We started this as a fun and engaging way for us to promote more of the attractions and things to do in the Bradenton Area to visitors,” said Kelly Clark, the communications director at the BACVB. “The more things there are for vacationers to do, the longer they will stay, which provides us with a greater economic impact in our county. This not only allows us to show the first time visitor the large array of things there are to do but also exposes our repeat visitor to other fun options.”
From now until March 31, a picture will be posted on the BACVB Facebook page featuring a new matchup. Participants will then vote for their favorite of the two activities featured that day by leaving a comment under the picture. True to a bracket tournament format, the winners from the first round will face off against each other in the Sweet 16, the Elite Eight, and the Final Four, with the winner announced on April 1.
The activities vying for the championship title are:
- Kayaking at Robinson Preserve
- Flyboarding in Palma Sola Bay
- Horse surfing in Palma Sola Bay
- Racing at Andersen Racepark
- Climbing trees at TreeUmph!
- Stand-up paddle boarding at Robinson Preserve
- Painting sand dollars at Shiny Fish Emporium
- Catching a game at McKechnie Field
- Catching a show at Manatee Performing Arts Center
- Snorkeling for your own hidden treasure
- Feeding cows at Dakin Dairy Farm
- Seeing Snooty at the South Florida Museum
- Going on a guided Segway tour
- Going for a scenic bike ride
- Touring the grove at Mixon Fruit Farms
- Picking strawberries at O’Brien Family Farms
Last year, Seeing Snooty at the South Florida Museum held off Flyboarding in Palma Sola Bay to win the first-ever Bradenton Area Beach Madness tournament.
“A large part of what makes the Bradenton area special is the area’s activities which bring visitors to the area and keep them here during their vacations,” said Kelly Clark, Communications Director at the Bradenton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. “We are glad to have had such great success last year and proud to host the second annual Bradenton Area Beach Madness. We anticipate an exciting month ahead.”
Although the voting is done on the bureau’s Facebook page, information and updates about the tournament can be seen at the BACVB’s website.
