BRADENTON, FLA. — A 28-year-old Bradenton man whom the FBI describes as a self-identified member of the Proud Boys was arrested Thursday for crimes connected with the insurrection of the U.S. Capitol in January after he was heard on video saying, “Let’s take the f----ing Capitol,” according to charging documents released by the Department of Justice.

Daniel Lyons Scott, who federal authorities said is also known as “Milkshake” within the Proud Boys, is charged with federal offenses, including the assault of a federal officer with physical contact and intent to commit another felony, federal prosecutors said. He is also charged with obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder and knowingly engaging in acts of violence on restricted grounds.

Charging documents released by the Department of Justice include images that it says show Scott wearing a black ballistic vest with the words “Proud Boy” printed on it as well as a baseball cap displaying the words, “God, Guns & Trump” along with an olive jacket and yellow-tinted goggles. Federal prosecutors said Scott was among the first members of a mob to make contact with police at the lower West Terrace of the Capitol Building.

Scott was one of three people arrested Thursday in connection with the Capitol insurrection and is now one of more than 440 people who have been arrested since Jan. 6, federal prosecutors said. Scott made his first appearance in court Thursday, prosecutors said in a news release.

The Washington Post reported Thursday that as many as 60 members of the Proud Boys were part of the march around the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 and that several members of the right-wing organization who pledged their support for former President Donald Trump played key roles in the attack on the Capitol in which five people were killed and numerous others were injured including about 140 police officers.

More than 125 people have been charged with assaulting or impeding law enforcement.
