Burglary Suspect Caught After Fleeing On Bicycle

Roger Cliburn of Bradenton faces one count of burglary of a vehicle.

James Duckworth of Bradenton went on an unexpected run Thursday night after spotting a man rummaging through his tools in his work truck outside his home. 

Duckworth spotted the man around 9:50 p.m. and chased him off from his home and called 911 to report the burglary and that the suspect was on a bike riding west on 39th Avenue, according to Manatee County Sheriff's Office. 

Deputies arrived in the area, and Deputy Bowling found the suspect, Roger Cliburn, riding a bike without lights, wearing a glove and carrying a bag of tools, according to the sheriff's office.

The irrigation tools found inside belonged to Duckworth and Manatee Landscape, including the businesses' tags inside the bag, according to the sheriff's office.

The tools were returned to Duckworth, according to the sheriff's office.

Cliburn, 48, of 2825 72nd St. Court West, is charged with one count of burglary of a vehicle, according to the sheriff's office. 

Cliburn has had multiple burglary charges on his record, according to court records, including three separate times in 2012.
