Couple Dead In Murder-Suicide At Retirement Community: Sheriff
Water's Edge of Bradenton staff found a couple dead in their apartment when conducting a wellness check Monday, the sheriff's office said.
BRADENTON, FL — An elderly couple was found dead in what appears to be a murder-suicide at a Bradenton retirement and assisted living facility Monday afternoon, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
When staff at Water’s Edge of Bradenton conducted a welfare check on the husband and wife around 3:30 p.m., they found the 83-year-old man and 86-year-old woman dead in a bed in their apartment, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies who responded to the retirement community, which is located at 2019 31st Ave. W., determined that they had both been fatally shot in the head. A firearm was located on the husband’s chest, MCSO said.

The sheriff’s department didn’t say which of the two was the shooter. The apartment had been locked from the inside and there’s no indication anyone else was involved, MCSO said.
The case is being investigated as a murder-suicide.
