Deputies: Suspect Hits Woman, Steals Items from Home

A 63-year-old Bradenton woman woke up late Saturday night in her home in the 3700 block of 14th Street West to find a man standing over her. 

According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, the man allegedly began striking the woman in the face while demanding money. 

The suspect then fled with items belonging to the victim. 

Deputies responded and searched the area but did not find the suspect, the sheriff's office said. No description of the suspect was provided. 

The victim was injured, but was not hospitalized.
