Trail of Haunted Legends: A Family-Friendly Spooky Hike

The family-friendly event at De Soto National Park will take visitors on a search for treasure.

De Soto National Memorial will once again take advantage of Halloween to scare and educate its visitors.

The national park will open a a family-friendly spooky trail walk on Oct. 27 from  6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Visitors will experience a unique and educational Halloween event — known as DeSoween V — for all ages.

The event and all activities are free to the public. It's also a good opportunity for kids to try out their costumes before trick or treating.

Desoween will feature:

The Trail of Haunted Legends — Join intrepid explorers and rangers as they investigate Florida’s greatest mysteries. Rangers think they may have located De Soto’s fabled gold ship that sunk in Tampa Bay. But, beware of the haunted guardians of some of Florida’s best known myths and legends like the dreaded Skunk Ape, who will try to stop any who enter the woods. Will you strike it rich or will you fade away and become another story for the Trail of Haunted Legends?

DeSoto National Memorial is located at: 8300 De Soto Memorial Hwy at the Northern terminus of 75th street West. I-75 exit 220 SR-64 Manatee Ave.
