Drivers Call in About Suspected DUI on I-75

Complaints of a reckless driver, who was weaving all over the roadway on I-75 near Moccasin Wallow, led to the arrest of 34-year old driver from Riverview.

A 34-year-old Riverview woman was arrested on her second DUI charge after drivers on Interstate-75 near Mocassain Wallow Road called authorities to say she was weaving and driving erratically. 

After a three-mile chase, sometimes at speeds as slow as 20 miles per hour, deputies arrested Brenda Lee Lorenzo, 34, of Riverview, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's report.

Manatee County deputies responded to several citizen complaints of a reckless driver, who was weaving all over the roadway on I-75 near Moccasin Wallow at around 10:40 p.m. Friday. Deputies located the vehicle and observed Lorenzo driving erratically and weaving across all lanes of I-75 southbound near mile marker 223.

Deputies attempted to stop Lorenzo for suspicion of DUI, but the vehicle did not stop. The vehicle was travelling as slowly as 20 miles per hour at one point on Interstate-75, while still weaving across all lanes.

The vehicle finally came to a stop at mile marker 220 near the State Road 64 exit. No injuries were sustained, nor was there any property damage. A traffic unit responded to conduct a DUI investigation. Lorenzo was subsequently arrested and charged with DUI. It was the second time she has been charged with DUI, according to records with the sheriff's office.
