DUI Manslaughter Charges For Driver In Fatal Crash: FHP

A driver faces DUI manslaughter charges after his passenger died in a single-car crash Thursday night in Bradenton, FHP said.

BRADENTON, FL — A 38-year-old Bradenton man was charged with DUI manslaughter after his car’s passenger died in a single-car crash Thursday night in Bradenton, Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

They were traveling north on 27th Street East, just south of 26th Avenue East around 8 p.m. when the driver veered off the roadway, hitting a fence, pedestrian crosswalk indicator and a utility pole, FHP said. The car caught fire and became engulfed in flames.

The passenger, who hasn’t been identified, was pronounced dead on the scene, FHP said.

The driver was brought to Blake Hospital with minor injuries and arrested early Friday. He was charged with DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide and booked into Manatee County Jail, FHP said.
