Elections 2020: Republicans Sweep County Commission Races
Satcher, Van Ostenbridge, Baugh and Kruse won all four seats on the Manatee County Commission.
MANATEE COUNTY, FL — Republicans swept the three Manatee County Commission races in the 2020 elections. James A. Satcher, Kevin Van Ostenbridge, Vanessa Baugh and George W. Kruse won their districts, based on unofficial results.
In District 1, Satcher, defeated his opponent, Democrat Dominique Dhauntel Brown, with 35,784 votes. Brown received 18,854 votes.
District 3 candidate Van Ostenbridge defeated his opponent, Independent Matthew J. Bower with 23,185 votes. Bower received 16,535 votes.

Baugh took home District 5 with 46,168 votes. She was challenged by two write-in candidates, Carol Ann Felts and Chris Gilbert. They received 6,314 votes combined. The Supervisor of Elections office didn't break down how many votes Felts and Gilbert received on their own.
The District 7 at-large seat went to Kruse. He earned 159,677 votes to defeat his opponent, write-in candidate Thomas Whitten Dell. There were 11,532 write-in votes cast for the district.
