Highway Patrol Cracks Down On Bradenton Jaywalkers
Florida Highway Patrol issued 15 warnings and one citation Friday night to Bradenton pedestrians along a stretch of U.S. 41

Florida Highway Patrol is trying to crack down on jaywalkers as well as car drivers having little regard for pedestrians and bicyclists in Bradenton.
Highway Patrol launched phase one of Operation Pedestrian Education and Enforcement Detail, or PEDS, on Friday, March 1, on U.S. 41 between State Road 70 and Bayshore Gardens Parkway. The operation lasted from 6 to 10 p.m.

- 15Â written warnings were issued to pedestrians who failed to use crosswalks
- 6Â written warnings were issued to bicycle riders who did not have headlight/taillights
- 2 drivers were issued written warnings for failure to yield to pedestrians within a crosswalk
- 1Â traffic citation was issued to a pedestrian for failure to use the crosswalk
- 1Â citation was issued to a driver for failure to exhibit license on demand
