SCF will host a free Major League Baseball (MLB) Scout Day at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 16 at Robert C. Wynn Field, 5840 26th St. W.

State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will host a Major League Baseball (MLB) Scout Day at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 16 at Robert C. Wynn Field, 5840 26th St. W. College and professional scouts will have an opportunity to observe the SCF Manatees team in action. The event is free and open to the public.
Players will run a 60-yard dash, followed by batting practice, a pregame infield and outfield warm-up, and an intrasquad game. Last year’s event drew more than 70 scouts representing every MLB team.
“Scouts come to numerous SCF practices and games throughout the year,” said Manatees head baseball coach Tim Hill. “In SCF’s 60-year history, 225 players have signed professional contracts and 30 have advanced to the major league level. Scouts tell us they want to see our players because SCF seems to have prospects every year.”
