Bradenton Doctor Travels With U.S. Soccer Team as it Competes

Dan Lamar, MD is joining the team in Honduras for the first of a 10-game series of qualifying matches for a chance to advance to the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

A local orthopedic doctor is is traveling with the U.S. Men's National Soccer Team as they take on Honduras to compete for a chance to advance to the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Dan Lamar, MD of Coastal Orthopedics in Bradenton is a team physician for U.S. Soccer. He is responsible for treating sport related injuries, as well as educating the athletes on how to avoid them.

This week he’ll join the U.S. Soccer Team in Honduras for the first of a 10-game series of qualifying matches for a chance to advance to the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The U.S. vs. Honduras match will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 6, and will be televised on the IN SPORT Network starting at 4 p.m.

"Team health is obviously important and it is my role to ensure good decisions are made regarding our players and staff,” Lamar said. “Traveling abroad can present some unique challenges and the training staff does a great job preparing for these trips. Hopefully, I won't have much to do other than enjoy a front row seat to an important win."
