Marauders Seek Veterans For Baseball Cards
Twenty veterans will be honored by trading card set, which will be given away at the June 11 baseball game.
BRADENTON, FL – Baseball players have been appearing on trading card as far back as the 1860s. The Bradenton Marauders want to honor local veterans the same way.
The Marauders are seeking nominations of local veterans to appear on their inaugural Military Heroes baseball card set. The cards will be given away to the first 1,000 fans in attendance on Military Appreciation Night on Saturday, June 11 when the Marauders will face the Tampa Yankees.
Nominations will be accepted until Friday, April 15 at 5 p.m. Nomination forms can be downloaded from the Bradenton Marauders website. E-mail completed forms and a picture of the nominee to MaraudersInfo@pirates.com.

The card set will represent each branch of the military and honor active military, retired veterans and veterans who have died. The 20 veterans chosen for the 2016 set and their families will be honored on the field during Military Appreciation Night. Each veteran selected will also receive 50 of their own card from the set. Each card will feature a picture of the veteran, their branch and rank, the years served, and details about their service.
