Mayors' Feed the Hungry Drive in Full Swing

Drop off locations are found throughout Sarasota and Bradenton.

Government officials throughout Manatee and Sarasota counties are hoping area residents will kick in to help make sure the less fortunate have a happy Thanksgiving.

The Mayors’ Feed the Hungry Drive continues in Manatee and Sarasota counties through Nov. 21. Throughout the drive, local drop off sites are available for anyone who wants to donate nonperishable food items, such as canned meats and soups, packaged cereals and rice, cranberry sauce, pasta and more.

The drive comes to a conclusion Nov. 21 at the Baltimore Orioles Spring Training site at Ed Smith Stadium from noon to 5 p.m. At that time, donations will be sorted for distribution throughout the two counties. The drive is an all-volunteer effort promoted by the mayors of Bradenton, Sarasota, Palmetto, Longboat Key, North Port and Palmetto. It’s also supported by the county commission chairpersons in Sarasota and Manatee counties.
