Music in the Park returns April 8

Free outdoor concert series returns for four dates throughout the month.

BRADENTON, FL – Strike up the band: Music in the Park will return to the 400-seat Mosaic Amphitheater on the Riverwalk starting Friday, April 8.

The free four-concert series, sponsored by Realize Bradenton, will take place on consecutive Fridays (April 8, 15, 22, and 29) from 6 to 8 p.m. at 606 Third Ave. W. in downtown Bradenton. Local craft beer and other beverages and snacks will be available to purchase.

Audience members are encouraged to bring picnic baskets, blankets, chairs, and their pets on leashes. The event also showcases dogs that are up for adoption from local shelters.

The series is sponsored by the Bradenton Downtown Development Authority, the Bradenton Herald, the Animal Network, Royal Pet Rescue and Moonracer No Kill Animal Rescue. Proceeds from the sale of beverages will benefit local animal rescue organizations.

  • Friday, April 8 – Kim Betts & The Gamble Creek Band: Fronted by Kim Betts, daughter of Dickey Betts of the Allman Brothers Band, the Gamble Creek Band offers high-energy country/southern rock/classic rock that appeals to all ages.
  • Friday, April 15 – Gumbo Boogie Band: Founded as an acoustic jug band, the Gumbo Boogie Band has been electrified since 1997. They serve up street party, New Orleans-style dance music, heavily influenced on Zydeco, with swamp and classic rock mixed in.
  • Friday, April 22 – Goodnight Neverland: An indie/pop band from Central Florida, Goodnight Neverland has gained a steady following over the years. Lead singer Kerry Courtney was featured on the last season of American Idol.
  • Friday, April 29 – La Lucha: A Tampa Bay-area based trio, La Lucha features three friends who hail from different parts of the Americas: Columbia, Mexico and the United States. Their set is a diverse mixture of Latin-inspired rhythms with jazz standards, with their own arrangements of pop songs and their own original compositions.
