Need A Ride To The Polls? Bradenton-Area Voters Have Options

Election Day voters have several options for free, discounted rides to the polls in Manatee County. Learn about how you can catch a ride.

MANATEE COUNTY — If you want to cast your vote on Election Day but you’re having trouble finding a ride to the polls, don’t fret. Here are a few options for free or discounted rides for voters to polling locations in Sarasota County on Tuesday.

Lyft is offering 50 percent off one ride costing up to $10 to anyone traveling to a polling place or ballot dropbox in any city on Election Day. Just use the code “2020VOTE” when checking out. This includes Lyft’s network of scooters, which are only found in certain cities, including Miami. This initiative is a partnership with various organizations, including When We All Vote and Vote.org.

Meanwhile, through its Get Out The Vote initiative, ride-share app Uber will provide discounted rides to the polls on Tuesday. The app has added a poll-finding feature for Election Day and the company will provide 50 percent off round-trip rides for voters, up to $7 each trip.

As part of its 50 Footsteps to Vote campaign, Manatee County Area Transit will make all routes free to ride on Tuesday. According to the MCAT website, “most ballot drop-off locations are within 50 footsteps from a bus stop” in Manatee County. Visit the MCAT website for routes and times, and Manatee County Supervisor of Elections for polling place locations.
