Police and Fire Unite to Make the Holiday Bright

Honoring the badge is designed to provide Christmas to underprivileged children and to show them that the police are good.

Fire Marshal Kenneth Langston played Santa Claus Tuesday night at the annual Honoring the Badge event at Toys R’ Us where 200 local children are treated to a shopping spree with money raised by the police department and Kingdom Life Christian Church.

Uniformed, off-duty police officers take the children around the store, help them select a gift, then accompany them to the cash register.

Honoring the Badge is a charity event designed to also show the children who participate that police officers are their friends and that helping out one another is a good thing.
